Connecting with wāhine within the Corrections Services

Project Esther has been journeying with wāhine within the Corrections Services for the last two decades.

We support chaplaincy and pastoral care in Christchurch Women's Prison by resourcing where we can, creating regular craft packs throughout the year, and putting together gift packs for the wāhine at Christmas.

We connect with wāhine at He Kete Oranga o te Mana Wāhine, a drug and alcohol residential rehab programme, on a regular basis providing chaplaincy and pastoral care.

We also work alongside wāhine who are reintegrating into the community. We cook and share a regular meal with wāhine staying in Te Whare Waimairiiri Odyssey House, as part of their reintegration programme, and look forward to continuing those relationships after they leave the programme.
